Announcing my Alderman Candidacy

Dear Neighbors,

I am excited to announce my candidacy in the upcoming City of Lexington municipal elections on Thursday, September 9th, 2021 for the seat of Alderman, position 4. I am starting my campaign off by asking you, my family, my friends, my community for your support and your vote.

I am a veteran of the United States Air Force and a proud graduate of Lexington High School, Jackson State Community College, Bethel University and the WestStar Leadership program at the University of Tennessee, Martin.

I’ve been married to Marcella Mackey Ellis for 27years and we’ve made Lexington our home during this time. Marcella is an educator in the Henderson County School System. Our sons, Brandon and Bryce were educated within our local public school system and both graduated from the University of Memphis with Computer Science degrees. Our family places a high value on education.

My service to others began 39 years ago when I enlisted into the United States Air Force as an 18yr with only an idea of who and what I wanted to be. The military taught me discipline, patience, cooperation, teamwork and the benefit of compromise. My community service includes having served on the boards of the Lexington Housing Authority, Lexington Electric System, Henderson County Chamber of Commerce and Lexington Soccer league. I am a past member of the Lexington Rotary Club. I’ve had the pleasure of coaching our youth in baseball and soccer for numerous years.

I know that my years of experience in business, outgoing personality and can do attitude will serve the citizens of Lexington well.

My commitment is to serve every citizen and positively contribute to our city’s continued growth. As your Alderman, you can count on me to:

1) Support and advocate for our excellent public safety officials.

2) Encourage continued improvements to our city’s infrastructure.

3) Attract new economic development while uplifting local businesses.

4) Strengthen the lines of communication between the City of Lexington and all its residents.

As I begin my campaign, I would love to hear what’s important to you and learn how together we can make Lexington a better city. Please email me at fredrt41@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.

I pledge to help the citizens of Lexington by promising to work wherever and whenever possible to keep the city of Lexington one of the best cities in Tennessee to live, work and play.

Sincerely,

Fred Ellis
